Models being affected in the U.S. for the software update:
- 4-cylinder Accords from model years 2005 through 2010
- CR-Vs from 2007 through 2010
- Elements from 2005 through 2008

Honda declares that during the absence of the updated software the automatic transmission secondary shaft in the affected vehicles may be smashed if the transmission is rapidly moved between each of the neutral, reverse and drive positions.
Bearing damage caused in the unusual way can make the engine oil to stall or lead to difficulty while using the parking gear.
Honda Company also announces that as of now there is no report of injuries or deaths related to this condition.
